To be healed by animals This is a translation of an article (Title: Gesundheit der zweifelthafte Wert teurer Tiertherapien) in the column Deutschland in the German weekly magazine Der Spiegel Nr.16, published on April 18, 2011. Almost at the same time, on March 11, 2011, the terrible Higashi-Nihon Earthquake, and the nuclear power plant accident at Fukushima occurred. Daily life has suddenly changed, and even now the situation is not improving. I was deeply shocked when I saw animals, which had previously been cared for by people, walking around and waiting for their masters. Dogs, cats and cows were wandering on the road. I have been thinking over and over about what it means, to be healed by animals. |
