One example is the recurrences of terrorism with its most obvious cause being poverty. It is estimated that at present about 4 billion people belong to the world's lowest economic strata. This large stratum of poverty has paralyzed markets in developing countries to a standstill, making them incapable of finding a way to progress out of stagnation and acquire sustainable growth. Recently, attention has gathered towards new business models that see business chances existing in social problems and the realization of innovative enterprises that result in solutions.This is called "Base of the Pyramid" or BOP business.
