What conception of “life” made Nazism compatible with conserving nature, and what kind of conservation did “nature conservation” imply? This paper explores these questions by focusing on an introductory book explaining “nature conservation” written for the people during the period when establishing conservation policies was at its peak. In this inquiry, three ideological nodes were extracted: （1） anti-liberalism, （2） nature conservation as “Heimat （Homeland） conservation”, and （3） biological determinism.
