 note = {The environment has, here, a nested structure composed by the universe, the earth, manmade area and us. The nest is penetrated by the flow of energy（fig.1). From the environmental viewpoint all activities, not only individual life, but also social infrastructure supporting it generate negative loads on the earth, which cannot be processed by nature in a year. The design of a social infrastructure must be undertaken with cooperation of many people and organizations. Therefore environmental design is a big job. The italic“ this” in“ this Big Job” places emphasis on design as primarily an egocentric particular. The“ I”（a designer）is provided as a result of an intentional reduction action from“ me” inside the real world to the position at the boundary of my world. The“ I” is a king of my world where all things are under my control and the “I” can abduct a design image freely, namely without being bound by any of the existent properties of things. But at a certain point in the process of design, the design image must be given existent materials and scales, and presented by words, pictures and models; it must be socialized and demystified for others. The reified design must be transmitted to and evaluated by people who for the most part are stakeholders. In order to begin the debate (dialogue or discourse）about a particular design all stakeholders must stand at a common table.
