This paper examines the problems in oral presentation skills of Japanese learners at the undergraduate level. To report the details of linguistic problems in oral presentation proficiency, some examples from an interview-based study are showed. In this study, the problems are divided into the following 3 types: (1) mistakes in word choice according to topic and situation, (2) breakdown caused by topic-level change, (3) inappropriateness in developing and finishing topic. Finally, a practical case focused on development of oral description skills in Japanese classes at the undergraduate level is presented. |
